A Hero’s Journey: Catch up

Hey guys, it’s me, Super Comet! So, today, I’m going to post the written chapters of A Hero’s Journey! So, here we go!

Chapter One: The Calling

My feet pounded the cobblestones of Astro-Knights Island. I was running to tell my friends that my parents had promised me a birthday party! First I met my friend Red Dragon at the Crop Circle Inn, and then I went to see Princess Jaguar at the castle. I was stopped by the guards when I reached the castle, but the Queen told them to let me pass. She asked, “What brings you here, Friendly Comet?” I replied, “I’m inviting Princess Jaguar to my birthday party, Your Majesty!” She said, “Okay, she’s in her room. But before you go, where is your party going to be at?” I replied, “The Planetarium,” and went to her room.

I told the princess, and she smiled. “Sure, I love that place!” she said, “When is it?” I said, “My birthday, silly!” She grinned. I heard my mom calling, “Friendly Comet, it’s time to come home!” I said, “Got to go!” Princess Jaguar said, “Aw, bye!” My mom asked me which dress I wanted to wear to the party. I chose my pink dress with a flower headband and belt to match. I was so excited for the party!

But it was not to be. The day before my party, the invaders attacked from the sky… and killed my parents and abducted Princess Jaguar in the process. I cried myself out the next day. I thought, “Why? First my parents died, and now my best friend is gone…” Right then and there I decided to avenge my parents’ death by finding out who -or what- killed them and abducted the princess. I decided to go down to our house’s basement to see if there was anything that could help me.

After about fifteen minutes, I found a heart-shaped gem with the words carved into it, “Love, joy, peace, and hope.” I had no idea what that meant, but I decided to keep the gem with me. I also found a bow and some arrows. I muttered, “Good thing I went through all of those archery lessons…” I searched the entire island for clues, and I found several. I found a crashed spacecraft, and powered it up with a fuel rod I had found. I was on my way to the Pewter Moon.

Chapter Two: The Mission

I was halfway between Poptropica and the Pewter Moon when my fuel rod depleted. I crashed onto the moon, but I fell out of my seat. Just before I hit the ground, I felt a jolt and… I started flying. Bewildered, I looked around and I saw that my satchel was glowing! I peeked inside and realized that it was that strange gem. I gingerly took it out and it started to glow brighter.

Then, there was an explosion. I saw a bright light around me, and then I heard the voice of my mother. “Honey, you’ve done it!” “What? What have I done, Mom, er, whoever you are?” “It’s really me, Friendly Comet. You’ve accepted your destiny!” “My destiny? what do you mean, Mom?” “You see, you come from a long line of superheroes. Every generation has passed down the Gem of Hope…” “And now it’s my turn!” “Yes, honey. Now, hold the gem in front of you and say the words inscribed on it.” I did as my mom had said, and my chest started to glow. A ribbon of rainbow light spread out through each of my limbs. In a single minute, I went from orphan wanderer to a superhero with a mission.

Chapter Three: Poptropica’s Savior- Part One

I stood where I was in shock. I thought, “Me?  A superhero?” I looked at my hands in awe, and flew off. I decided to go to the Jungle planet, as it was the nearest planet, aside from Poptropica. On my way, I nearly collided with an alien ship, and they were NOT happy about it. They started shooting at me and I responded with my own firepower. Just when it seemed I was about to  lose, I saw a comet and it gave me a power like nothing I had ever felt, or even read about! Super-charged with the sight of the comet, I defeated my enemies.

I was in shock. Nothing like this had ever happened to anyone before! But then I remembered a prophecy that said,

Poptropica needs a team

of true heroes to defend

Its former glory

until the very end.

I thought, “Could it be? Could be a hero on the team?” Then I realized what I had never understood, why my parents died, or at least my mom. I realized that I couldn’t have become a superhero if my mom was alive as a person, because there could only be one living superhero in a single family, current or former, because it would upset a balance of power in the family.

After the realization, I went on my way to the Jungle Planet, singing, “Cutting a ribbon of hope the sky, giving everything life…” Soon, I reached the Jungle Planet. Sir Cador thought I was a comet, which was supposed to be a sign of bad luck. He said, “It’s a comet! Help!” His outcry gave me an idea for a name. I said, “Not just any comet! I’m… Super Comet!” He was terrified until I said, “It’s okay. I’m here to help.” I took off my mask and he recognized me. He asked, “Friendly Comet? What are you doing here?” I replied, “I’m doing what you’re doing. I’m trying to save Princess Jaguar.” He said, “I get that, but how did you get here?” I smiled and replied, “I have special powers. It’s hard to explain. Come on, let’s go find Sir Gawain!” He said, “Okay, but how do you propose we get there?” I grinned and handed him an oxygen mask. “Put this on and hold on tight,” I instructed.

We tore off through space towards the Ice Planet. I stopped short when I saw the space sharks, nearly slinging Sir Cador towards them. “Sorry,” I said. He said, “It’s okay.” I backed up and then went in at full speed. Just before we got in, they noticed us and started chasing us. I was going too fast to stop and turn around, and the biggest shark was about to chomp us! Just when it seemed that we were going to die, I got fast enough to warp to safety. We tumbled into the snow, dazed but safe. Amazed, Sir Cador asked, “How did you do that?” I replied, “I don’t know!” We hiked up the mountain and met Sir Gawain. Sir Cador filled him in on our little adventure. Sir Gawain looked at me, astonished. “How- who- why- what- HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!” I replied, “I don’t know much more than you do.”

I blasted the Tigercopter, and after checking for the princess, Sir Cador, Sir Gawain, and I warped to the Fire Planet to find Sir Pelleas in hopes that he had found the princess. When we got there, we met Sir Pelleas at the mouth of a cave. Sir Cador told the story until the Ice Planet, then Sir Gawain told him the rest of the story. Sir Pelleas’ reaction was about the same as Sir Gawain’s, except he stayed a little calmer. I went in the cave to battle the Dragotank while the knights talked about their adventures before I came along. I concentrated super-hard and shot out more power than I knew I had! After I defeated the Dragotank, I flew off with the knights to the Crystal Asteroid. I pulled the key, and was sucked into the portal. When I reached the other side, I saw Princess Jaguar! There was something funny about her clothes though…

Note: The part after the prophecy is a little weird because I had to change the prophecy a little to fit with future chapters.

A Hero’s Journey: Chapter Three, Part Two

As I landed, I called, “Princess Jaguar!” She replied, “Oh, hi! Uh, who are you?” I took off my mask and asked, “Don’t you recognize me?” She said, “No… things are kind of foggy. I don’t remember much before my kidnapping…” I saw two things that were out of place while she was talking:

  • Her face had a grayish tint and was kind of shiny.
  • Her eyes were red.

I nodded and punched her in the face. She fell back, and when she landed, she turned into a cyborg jester. I saw the clothes: purple and yellow. I gasped. “Mordred!” She- or should I say he– said, “Not Mordred, not anymore. Now, I am the BINARY BARD!!!” I stared, then blasted him.
“01010100 01101000 01100001 01110100 00100000 01101000 01110101 01110010 01110100 00101110 00101110 00101110”

I said, “Okay… Anyways, now to rescue the princess!” I flew inside the castle and saw her in a green, glowing cage. She said, “Friendly Comet! Is it really you?” I grinned, “No, of course it’s not me. I’m a mirage.” She giggled. I saw an orb and picked it up. When I picked it up, the cage vanished. We flew back through the portal and picked up the knights, then flew home.

The next day, the king summoned me. He said, “For your acts of bravery, I knight you Lady Comet of Arturus!” I said, “Thanks, Your Highness, but I’d prefer to be called Super Comet!” With that, I blasted off, singing, “Cutting a ribbon of hope through the sky, giving everything life…”

A Hero’s Journey: Chapter Four, Part One: A Wintry Victory

At the same time that all of this was happening, there was a girl named Tall Cactus on Cryptids Island. The very day I had earned my powers, a family sword was passed down to her. For a while, she played around with it, then she completely forgot about it. It remained in the back of her closet until the day she moved to Game Show Island.

When she was packing, she cleaned out her closet and found the sword. Strangely, it hadn’t gathered dust in the several months it was there. Tall Cactus decided to keep it in case she needed it. Exactly one week after she arrived, the robots took over the island. She wished she hadn’t come, but it was too late now. One day while Tall Cactus was working, she said to her partner, “Do you ever wish you could go back in time and change something that happened?” The other worker replied, “Oh, yeah.” Tall Cactus said, “I hope the Power Force comes to save us soon.”

Meanwhile, in an undisclosed location…

Holmes: “Power Force? Please…”

???: “I thought the prophecy that foretold their coming was destroyed!”

Holmes: “Apparently it wasn’t.”

Back with Tall Cactus

Tall Cactus finished working and went home. After dinner, she started reading her favorite book. She got to the part where the main character made a plan to fight for her best friend’s freedom, and Tall Cactus got an idea. She called every single Poptropican on the island over to her house. After describing her plan, she said, “We strike tomorrow at noon.” The next day, Tall Cactus put her sword in her belt before she went to work. At noon, she whispered, “Time to strike.” Then she yelled, “Humans, STRIKE!” As if they were psychically linked, every single human left their workstations at the same time. A few robo-guards tried to stop them, but Tall Cactus slashed them with her sword. Then, EVERY SINGLE ROBOT ON THE ISLAND came after them. The humans were trapped!

Then, Tall Cactus, summoned immense courage and strength from somewhere deep inside her. Then she slashed the sword as much as she could, but it wasn’t enough. The robots just kept coming! Then she slashed right diagonally, then left diagonally, then straight down. then she lunged. When she lunged, she shot ice out of her hand and froze the robots.  Then she tried it again on all of the other robots. The victory was won, and then Tall Cactus transformed! She got a cape made of snowflakes, a crown and shoes made of ice, and a beautiful blue dress. She said, “I’m Snowflake, and I’m the winter spirit!” Then she created an ice trail to walk on and skated off.
